Sometimes
I depersonalise
and cannot believe
I am still alive,
blood-pumping
as pendants unhinge
like exhumed coffins;
skull-moons littering
my path.

These arcane excursions
have me reading
epitaph-poetry,
cryptic flower-script:
of all the forgotten names –
set in the finery
of seed-husks.

And
I dip
Saturn-spit,
sitting back,
closing off
like the iron-lace
of tomb-balconies,

cupboards
open and close
inside of me –

and I am back where
I belong.
in moments i slip away...and come back

I love this. It sort of reminds me of E.E. Cummings, only it makes more sense =P

brilliant, i think this is one of the best you've done for a while.

i know i keep saying this - but your work is so vivid, so easy to visualize as the words flow past, few poets do that for me. i can just see the moon skulls glowing in the dark.

The first stanza is utterly beautiful...

skull-moons littering
my path.

particularly caught my attention, you have this incredible capacity to "paint" with your words, I always feel almost like I'm looking at a painting or a sculpture as opposed to reading words when I read your work. :+fav: for thee...

Anytime, my only regret is I get to do such so little with that silly "real life" thing keeping you from posting poem after poem after poem. ;)

There's so much to consider and relish in your poem, Natalie.

It takes an effort to be "real".

i think one of the secrets to being able to appreciate brilliant poetry (like yours) is one's ability to find oneself in them; a role in the play, a legend on the map, or "skull-moons" on the "path". somehow you allow me to find myself here, at the end of all your moon-lit, felt-tipped, sign-posts, scattered with arcana, all pointing off just past the far edge of the elliptical horizon. and even though you come back ("exhuming us, reconstituting our form, bringing us back with you) you're not quite the same, none of us are, some stardust remains.

thanks for sharing.
